    Green Your Body

We live in a time where most of us are rushing through life disconnected - disconnected from our bodies, minds and spirits, the people around us, and the earth we live on. The frenetic pace of our lives only adds to the separation and lack of connection we're feeling.

The effect of this lack of connection is making headlines everyday. Rates of heart disease and cancer are on the rise, prescriptions for medications to treat depression and anxiety are at record levels, two out of three American adults are overweight, the rate of autoimmune disease is growing, chronic fatigue syndrome is a new fixture in our country's lexicon - and the list goes on and on.

We don't feel well. We feel stuck and empty. So, we turn to medications or alcohol or tobacco or other vices - the most frequent and insidious choice being the food we choose to eat - to treat our symptoms and ease our pain. But rather than healing the root cause, these patterns keep us mired in the toxic routines of our daily lives.

Ayurvedic medicine sheds light on why these quick fixes and vices aren't helping us. In Ayurveda, disease occurs when we disconnect from our true nature as spirit. We forget that a part of God resides within us. We become dominated by the ego (the sense of separateness and individuality) and we live our lives as sensory beings. In this ego-dominated state, we pursue pleasure through the senses and tend to overindulge. This path ultimately leads to a host of energetic and physical imbalances that disturb the body's inherent equilibrium, resulting in disease.

Where there's harmony, there's health. Where there's disharmony, there's dis-ease. So, the key to overcoming the ailments we may be facing lies in getting our bodies back on track, and achieving balance with who we are and who we're committed to being. It's found in reconnecting with the great spirit, God or faith - whatever that means for you. You might read that and think it sounds farfetched or a bit radical, but, time and again in my own life and in the lives of my clients, I've found it to be true.

The power to make these changes is ours, and the first step is simple: The secret to inner harmony and good health is locked inside the foods we choose to eat, and in the energy we radiate and attract into our lives.

We begin by greening our bodies with a cleanse, because the revolution begins within. So get ready: if you go there with me, things are about to get really interesting.
